Our next Sunday Cycling Afternoon will take place this Sunday, August 11th at 14h30.
We’ll meet as usual by the Vel’oh! stand and bike pump near the Glacis and the Fondation Pescatore bus stop

The complete route will be about 21km and will mainly follow the northern part of the PC1 cycling path, which does a circle around Luxembourg city! There are only two small hills to conquer; it is definitely a cycle ride anyone can do.

We will have a refreshing drink and enjoy the view when we reach Juegdschlass Cafe in the middle of the ride, and of course at the end of the trip at the terrace of Cafe Brigitte in the Grund.

Riders who are still motivated after that can form a group that will ride the rest of the PC1 through Hesperange, Kockelscheuer and Cessange.

Don’t forget your sunglasses, sunscreen and water!

We’re happy to kickstart our first bicycle workshop, open to everyone!

The workshop will cover basic maintenance — you will be independent for everyday repairs once you learn how to clean your bicycle, maintain the chain, and adjust your derailleurs and brakes.

We will meet at the syn2cat hackerspace in Strassen, this Tuesday at 7 pm. Bring your bike!

To make the most of this weekend’s sun we’re going to go swimming up north in the Upper Sûr Lake (Lac de la Haute-Sûre)! But first we need to get there…

This ride will be quite long, around 60-70km in total, and there will be some hilly parts, but if you managed the last ride of 45km without difficulty you should be ok.

We’ll meet at Kleinbettingen train station at 10am (it’s a few stops west of Luxembourg Gare Centrale by train, but you can also cycle there from the city centre in an hour by following PC1, then PC13 through Strassen and Mamer, then onto PC12 and continue towards the station).

We’ll follow PC12 north to NoeRoute to swimmingrdange, then follow PC17 to Bavigne. From there PC19 will take us straight to the lake. This stretch will be about 48km and take around 4-5 hours depending on breaks.

After we enjoy our swim, the way back will be easier: 15-20km straight east along a lake and river (on roads, not an official bike path) to Goebelsmuehle train station. Then we’ll catch the train back home (or if you want an even greater challenge, you can cycle the way back too!)

The map on the left shows the bike path  that we’ll follow from Kleinbettingen to the lake. See the full cycle map of Luxembourg at OpenCycleMap.org

What to bring: lots of water, sunscreen, lunch and snacks, swimsuit!

See you there 🙂

A hot Sunday cycling afternoon took place last Sunday, July 21st.

We started the day by meeting at the air pump station in Luxembourg City. After ensuring that everyone was well prepared for the upcoming hours of cycling by checking and inflating our bike tires, we set off to Mamer.
The annual “Alles op de Velo!” event provided a great opportunity to cycle on a 15km long car-free route from Mamer to Mersch. We had several refreshing breaks, stopping at a nice little castle called “Schoenfels”, in Mersch and in nature.
Our way back to Luxembourg followed the Alzette cycle path through the peaceful countryside. Thanks to our tireless guide Guilliame circling around the whole group, no one could get lost! As is now tradition, the ride ended at the ice-cream parlour Veneziano on Place d’Armes in Luxembourg City 🙂

It was very nice sunny day, an excellent 45km workout and a most pleasant time! Thank you to all of the 22 active cyclists, who come from all over the world, for riding with us!
Take a look below to see photos and video from the day, and see you next time!
